TE 313 - Literacy Methods for Middle Elementary


Course Description Theoretical and methodological understanding of teaching and assessing constructs of literacy appropriate for students in middle elementary. Special emphasis will be placed on major elements of literacy: phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling, and writing. In addition, course materials will address the teacher’s role in supporting diverse learners and using culturally responsive literacy practices in the classroom. Fieldwork in elementary classrooms for second or third grades. Co-requisite for TE 339  or TE 349  Field Practicum

Requisites: Admission to the Teacher Education program; TE 312  or TE 314  (Required, Previous). TE 339  or TE 349  (Required, Concurrent).
